Crater Lake!

We couldn’t have asked for a better day to visit! While there was still a decent amount of snow on the ground, it was 59 degrees and clear as a bell. We had been warned that this time of the year, the lake is often socked in with fog so we might not get a great view, but we were gifted with the exact opposite. We were only on the mountain for a few hours, but it was wonderful.

Leroy had been here as a child, but I had never been. The colors are truly amazing, and the clear blue sky only amplified it.

I found their explanation of the clearest lake water in the world to be insufficient – Water left in a pond without inflow or outflow would usually go stagnant. But this one does not. They never had a real reason that they explained. Perhaps the steam at the bottom of the lake? Perhaps a miracle? Who knows. The kids had a blast, and so did this mom!

Back to our campsite to hide inside from the mosquitos, eat dinner, and go to bed early. We were all tired and more than ready for a good night’s sleep!
