Sunday after church we left for the Grand Canyon. 3.5 hours in a van to get there - but it was well worth it!
Happy Travellers!
This is Kathy - she had the mic for the trip and educated us on so many things about the train, the canyon, and the wealth of history about the area. She was excellent and really made the trip. Her Connecticut accent threw me though...
We met the conductor, the "Marshall", entertainers, and so many other people from the train. The kids loved every second of it.
We stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel - and took the train to the Canyon the next day. What a MARVELOUS way to experience the whole thing! Before you board, they have this little show - it was a neat way to start off the whole thing.
There was SO much entertainment on the train that the 2hr, 15 minutes went FAST and the kids loved it.
And then there was the Canyon - Nate kept correcting us, "the GRAND Canyon!" He was right. Leroy and his parents had been here 30 years ago (I was only 4), but it was a first for me and the kids. Beautiful.
We were dropped off at the South Rim for 3 1/2 hours - enough time to eat, take plenty of pictures, and cruise the shops. It was really really nice. I would so recommend it to anyone. And if you wanted to stay at the Rim for longer, you could stay at the hotel there for a night and go home on the train the next day.
It was pretty cold and windy up there on the Rim - and just as we were boarding the train - believe me when I tell you this - it started to snow. Seriously.

Wow! What a great trip! Making memories all the way! Mom
Thanks for the photos Jenn. I always wanted to see the Grand Canyon and it was nice to hear about your trip. I didn't know about the hotel - that sounds really fun along with the tour and they have stores right there???
