My Children’s Mouths

Friday: Nate fell in Wal-Mart and smashed his lip. Blood. Pain. Had to break into a napkin package right there in the meat aisle to swab up the blood. Also broke into a popsicle package to calm the pain. My rule-keeping daughter almost had a breakdown that we would get caught for stealing merchandise before buying it.

Saturday: Ryan’s knee collided with Amanda’s lip while playing. Large cut inside her upper lip. More Blood. More Ice. More Pain. ER Visit, but no stitches, although I disagreed, but it would have been tough to stitch, so I acquiesced. Knarly, swollen, painful lip. She won’t eat. Ibuprofen barely dulls the pain. Dandy. So much for making 24 pounds!!! And FUSSY little girl!

(these pictures really don’t even show it – especially this morning when it is REALLY swollen and too yucky and painful to take a picture of – but they were too cute to not post.)

Saturday: Ryan begins to complain about his gum hurting. Small cut inside his gum. Sunday, discovered that he had a small cut the length of his jaw on one side – his face is actually swollen. Don’t know what happened there, but he also cannot eat.

No one wants to do school today. Me included.

I want a nap.
